Walter Samuel says; enough. The 37 year old Argentine defender who was a main player in the 2001 Roma scudetto winning team and the 2010 Triplete winning Inter team now announces that he retires after this season. “
The Wall” currently plays for Basel and are facing Fiorentina in the Europa League. In an interview with Neue Zürcher Zeitung Samuel says;
“There comes a time when you need to become aware of your own body. If everything hurts, even the mind starts to get tired. I still want to play but I have physical difficulties, I need more time to recover. My younger teammates are back in shape the day after a game. I need 2-3 days. But it is not an easy decision, not at all.”

A true legend! No wonder he was called “the wall”, because he truely was a WALL everywhere he played, at Roma, Real Madrid and for us! Would be wonderful if he returned to us as a youth coach, because he – just like Cambiasso, was a great leader on the field!
FORZA WALTER “THE WALL” SAMUEL!
One of the most consistent defenders at top level throughout his entire career. One of the best of his time. Thank you forever Samuel!
Our legend.
I remember Maicon Lucio Samuel Zanetti.
It was like poem.
I will remember him forever. Best centre back Inter had since I started following.
Inter should organize a special match at the end of the season..
