Roberto Mancini held the press-conference ahead of tomorrow’s away game against Torino in the conference room of Appiano Gentile. Here are his words:
What kind of week has it been for Icardi?
“I didn’t have to put him on the bench against Roma, but it was a tactical choice which he understood. Luiz Adriano is sitting on the bench in A.C Milan, Morata and Dybala at Juve. These are choices and in our work and you have to do them. Icardi has trained well and has nothing to show, He will score, I’m sure of it”.
What could you mention about a possible deal with Pirlo?
“That it’s not true that I have called him, I haven’t ever talked to him. Everything can happen in football, but at the moment there is nothing to report”.
Would it be fascinating to bring him back to Italy?
“I don’t know what intention he has. I don’t know if we wants to rest. If he would like to return he would most likely be important”.
Will Icardi play?
“We have 24 hours to make a decision, I don’t wan’t to mess up the formation”.
Have you changed the idea compared to before?
“I trust my players, They have all played except Montoya. I hope he will have his occasion, he always train well. As I said, I trust everyone and all of them are important. We have had three matches close together so changes is normal”.
Would it be possible to see you at the Chelsea bench?
“Just lose two matches and then it won’t be spoken about again”.
What have you taken with you after the match against Roma?
“We need to improve, also because there are teams that are on a higher gear than us for the Scudetto”.
Can Inter challenge for winning the Scudetto?
“We need to improve, as I just said. We need to score more goals, we need that our strikers makes them. First of all Icardi but also Palacio and Jovetic all the rest”.
What is the most fascinating choice, at the moment that we can expect? “Everything is hard enough, When you make changes you need time to implement it all. When we will find the asset, it will be crucial for our path”.
What quality could Pirlo give to raise the level of the current qualities?
“Pirlo is a champion, he’s not a normal player. He understand the game before the others, he went to MLS now and he’s resting at the moment. We need to understand what his intentions are, we have a strong midfield physically and when the pitch is heavy they will be important for us. We have something extra”.
What do you think about Torino?
“Ventura is a very good coach, and as always, it won’t be easy. Tomorrow, there will be a fight for every ball. We must be very aggressive, they have very fast players.”
In what way are you and Ventura similar?
“We are different in age (laughing. We both developed in Sampdoria, he is very good. He has always done good at Torino even with the transfers”.
Does he deserves an opportunity in a big club?
“Maybe he’ll get there, like Sarri and his success. but Torino is still a great club where he does an awesome work”.
Mihajlovic said that the teams above Milan have had luck, What would you like to respond to him?
“I don’t know what to respond to him, In a season you need to have it all, luck as well. but that is the same for every team”.
Are there any unsellable players? 45 million Euros for Icardi would you sell?
“That ain’t my turf, so we are just having small talks now”.
But would you sell him for that amount?
“I don’t answer that question, it could be a non doable thing”.
How much satisfaction is it to have players as Nagatomo and D’Ambrosio revovered?
“The value are theirs. They are two professionals examples, They always commit, even when they are not playing. They have permission to respond on the pitch. The value are theirs, when you are working with players as them it’s always very easy for us coaches”.
Is today’s Inter the one you had in mind in the beginning of the year?
“I have always said it would take 10-15 matches. We have less uncertainty compared to a couple of weeks ago, but there is still work to do”.

“He is well, He has no problems”
Who you like to take away from Juventus?
“The beautiful thing about football is to face the strong teams, so therefor I wouldn’t like to take anyone away from Allegri”.
How is that the team never grows in the end of the matches?
“I believe it has always been so, but then of course the physical condition is developing this is more or less a normal thing”.
What is Kondogbia lacking to be a regular starter?
“He still needs to understand the football. We often forget that he’s still very young. He need time, he’s shy ans vulnerable. So he need to improve himself but it’s just a matter of time. He does some errors, as everyone else but he has qualities”.
FcIN – Thohir has said that he would like Manicni to stay for 10-15 years, Would you do a director’s jobb at Inter?
“To talk about 10-15 years in Italy is impossible. We need to think about the present, then no-one knows the future. I have already been at Inter a couple of years, but it’s difficult ro stay in one club for many years in today’s football”.
What would you like to wish Valentino Rossi?
“It will never be easy, but I believe that he’s convinced to recover. He has the possibilities, He deserves to win the World Cup, as he has been leading the whole season. Whenever you don’t win wouldn’t change a thing. He’s still number one Moto GP driver in the world”.
