Miranda and Murillo as “the real strength to build the present and future successes on.” That’s what Riccardo Ferri, former Inter defender and cornerstone of the Inter dei Record of 1988-1989 season. “Individually they are very strong, have personality and international quality. They are also helped by the tactical attitude chosen by Mancini in these early rounds. Inter, thanks to Handanovic, has a strong central defensive backbone.”
Has the impact of Murillo surprised you?
“I think he has surprised everyone. He was born in 1992, he’s only 23 years old and has big room for improvement. I think Murillo is extraordinary, he has impressive physical and technical qualities. He has made mistakes, but when studying his history he has always improved from season to season. He has forged ahead in the national team and I believe he can only get better. Close to Miranda he will become a top player.”
Does he remind you of someone from the past?
“I don’t like to make comparisons or analogies, especially with players of the past. Today we need physicality and speed with legs and intelligence. In some respects, however, Murillo can resemble his Colombian predecessor Cordoba.”
Is Miranda the new leader at Inter?
“A player who has taken the place of Thiago Silva in the national team, becoming the captain of Brazil, can only be a defender of personality, a guide. I am struck by the calmness that he has and the great security in his own ability.”
Miranda and Murillo are a defensive cornerstones in a defense in which Mancini changes fullbacks from game to game.
“I think that Roberto knows that he has a very flexible team and therefore can afford to change players or positions on the pitch. Mancini is very flexible and according to me he doesn’t have a true and own tactical idea yet. This Inter is still a construction site and with the help from the club, which seems to collaborate, within a year, Mancini will complete his Inter. Today the deck is short and therefore they adapt to their opponents. Let’s give him a few more months and Inter will become very strong.”

Ausilio is a godsend for signing the M&M duo.. without them our fullbacks, Nagatomo in particular, would be a massive detriment to the back line, but have somehow managed to not cripple our rock solid defense, not completely at least. I’d say we have bigger priority signings, but we desperately need a RB. Santon is solid, but nothing that compares to the quality of Miranda, Murillo or the potential that Telles presents
I hadn’t realised Gerald Butler played for Inter before becoming an actor.
We’re living the dream here ^^
Still remains our best signing since 2010..I think it’s a toss up between miranda and murillo for beat signing but I’m thankful they came.A world class partnership…I look across Europe and think..well that defensive pairing can match our CBs currently? The only one that comes to mind is Juve’s.
Once we add a decent full back other than telles, we will be a complete back line
What is wrong with Telles?
Have you totally forgotten the Napoli game? Murillo is young and super talented but he does make mistakes as well! It is a potential world class duo -agree but not world class yet!
Is there any defender in the world that hasn’t make a mistake for the season? As I recall that’s his only glaring mistake…was pretty much solid apart from that but yes I agree that saying he’s world class is a bit premature
