With Inter likely to let Andrea Ranocchia move to Sampdoria (expected after the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Juventus), the Italian papers have came up with a list of defenders thought to be interesting the Nerazzurri.
Corriere dello Sport reports that the candidates to replace Ranocchia are Marseille’s ex-Inter defender Rolando, Lyon’s Bakari Kone and Noe Dussenne of Mouscron.
Meanwhile La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that other candidates include Genoa’s Sebastian De Maio and Yohan Benalouane of Leicester City, while there are confirmations for Empoli’s Mario Rui but not until July.

Well these are pathetic targets. Koné will soon turn 28 and is mediocre, I never even heard of this “Noe Dussenne” guy and Rolando is far from the form he had for us. I would take Rolando back then, but not now. Benalouane is another mediocre and almost 29 years old defender like Koné. De Maio is meh, but will be 29 in a moment as well, too old. In the end, these targets are just as pathetic as us aiming for Quagliarella. Why do we have to buy more dead wood?
It’s not like we are trying to enhance our squad, it’s about getting cash. If we can get 10 million for Rano, and get another bench warmer for a cheaper price who still will do a decent job when the time comes, then why not? Splashing cash all over the place is not possible nowadays.
I say if we get a good price for Ranocchia then buy Rolando (if cheap) and add the rest of the money to the sum it takes to get a starting player in midfield (or a winger and loan out Bia).
sadly Rolando won’t be as cheap as we may expect we are talking about 5MM, but he is not that good, he wasn’t when he joined us 3 years ago but scored 4 goals- however I’d to see a new player, there must be better targets in defense now that Vidic and Rano are gone.
Because we are reinforcing our squad with dead wood that will put a strain on our finance when we don’t need them. We should pursue depth in the summer for the next season, when we will actually need it, instead of panic-buying depth for the remaining 6 months where our only obligations are Serie A and Coppa Italia. I’m sure we could get much better targets for the same money in summer.
Same old story..
