After the heavy defeat against Juventus in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, Roberto Mancini went to the press room of the Juventus Stadium to comment on the evening in front of journalists.
What went wrong?
“I could have thought we would lose, but not by 3-0. It was a strange game, difficult to decipher, it is exaggerated. In the first half we were in the game but we were low on the pitch. The penalty changed the second half, in which Juve withdrew and waited for our mistakes. We gave them the second goal, this is football.”
The difficulties with getting shots at goal continues.
“That’s how it is at the moment, we find it hard to score goals and make too many mistakes behind. It’s a sensitive moment but this should not make morale go down. Football is like this, it happens at times when everything goes wrong but you have to know how to react. The championship is not compromised.”
What’s your opinion on the midfield and Medel in particular?
“Facing Juve right now isn’t easy, they are in an extraordinary moment. We create little for the attackers. Medel played a good match, he made himself known on the pitch.”
The differences between Juventus and Napoli and who is favorite for the Scudetto? Is Inter still there?
“Right now we have to think about getting points and see after 5-6 games where we will be. Napoli and Juve deserve their position.”
The intention is to get someone to keep things in order in midfield?
“If for five months we were in the lead we did something good. We should not throw everything away, we can still have our say in the league. Finding players who can change the team is not easy.”
The best news is the arrival of Eder, what can he provide?
“He can be beneficial for the other strikers because he is different. He can give something. So far he has scored 12 goals.”
Guarin went to China, are you not concerned when you look at the midfielders in the squad given that there is a clear lack of quality?
“Guarin is different from the others, he is now in China and we can’t do anything. With these players we can reach our goals we had at start the season.”
Murillo’s red card. What do you think?
“There are things that you don’t agree with, but it happens to all the coaches at the end of the game.”

We can turn the things around, Mancini have tried different line ups but he has not done these yet:
1- A red pen on the name of Nagatomo, Melo, and D’Ambrosio
2- I love Medel, and he is my idol. But, he is not good at build-up play and transitioning the ball. That’s why we don’t see a lot of Makelele style midfields nowadays and see likes of Busquests, Kroos, Toare box-to-box kind of midfields. Why don’t we try out Brozo in his position for couple of games?
3- Change his mentality… when he subs in Miranda for Telles in half time, what kind of message you are sending to your team/? Protecting 1 goal lead against Carpi at home?!!
maybe we just need a strong leader in our team, Icardi has been wearing the armband but he is not a real leader to be followed, haven’t see him providing instructions to his teammates, and obviously his form this season well…
Hope our performance will be better next month.
If Eder and a new midfielder comes and we still played like shit, then you must go out coach..! You shouldn’t be ignorant anymore, take a look at the mirror and reflecting to yourself..!
So, let’s see what will happen after new players come…
I still believe in Thohir and Ausilio, but lost faith that Mancini could be more useful for us. In the end of the season, we will evaluate how we will continue, but the problems are getting serious. When you can’t exploit the whole potential of your current players, it’s ridiculous to expect that asking for more and more mediocre new players will solve the problems.
Our current squad has nothing better than what we’ve got so far and it’s not the problem of Mancio.
Our bench palyers are shit! We don’t even have 11 quality players! We are short in forwards, CBs, FBs and CMs and u expect Mancio to do miracles?
Rube has Mazo, Morata and Dybala in their front line and all these three are great players, but we’ve an inconsistent Icardi, JoJo and old Palacio!
Icardi needs younger Palacio, none of Jojo, Ljajic or Perisic and Bia compatible with him, and icardi clearly miss Guaro. With Eder, i still prefer Icardi upfront than the more skillful Jojo.
A player who’s not that flexible to play with the rest of the squad, is not a great player to keep. I’m absolutely OK with selling him for 40+M offer.
