“My future is tomorrow. I’m not one who looks that far, I try to focus on the present, to work hard to improve day by day and, then, whatever happens, we’ll see.” Words by Diego Laxalt, midfielder in Genoa on loan from Inter, who at the end of the season could be redeemed by Genoa. The Uruguayan was interviewed by Calcio2000: “What I found more of in Genoa compared to previous experiences? I would answer you space and opportunity to play (laughs). Seriously, you can train as much as you want, but nothing is more useful to grow than to get experience on the pitch, and here in Genoa I have had this chance. Obviously every player hopes to play all the time, but not even I was expecting to play this much (laughs). Of course I’m happy, but I’m not content, I want to use every opportunity granted by the coach to further improve myself.”

Finally a comment about Gasperini. “I knew him, or rather, knew his teams from playing against them. Only that when I faced Genoa as an opponent people always said: ‘But how the hell do they play (laughs)?’ It looked like a total mess, but now that I have seen it ‘from the inside” I know that everything is studied, that it is all prepared. It is a sight to see the coach work and a great privilege to be able to learn from him.”
