Mancini

At the end of the game at the Marassi, coach Roberto Mancini commented on the loss against Genoa:

“The team played a great game, we deserved a bog win. But in football you need to score goals though and unfortunately we have not been able to do so in too many occasions. The team hardly ever encountered any difficulties, we fell asleep when they scored, but everyone did well. The first half should finish 2-0, but all games at Genova are difficult. If you don’t manage to score and close it, then you lose. The same thing happened last year as well. It is a team that needs to improve in front of goal, when you get an opportunity you need to score. The goal changes everything, it directs the game. It was an absurd game. The Champions? It was very difficult before, now even more so.”

“The regret? Not having scored, we struggle a lot. We need to work and get better at that. We need to be cynical. Jove tic-Icardi? They played three days ago, we needed a few fresh players to move in the spaces. Everyone played wall, the starters and the subs. Genoa are fast, they are dangerous on the counter attack, they can get you in trouble through set pieces. It is normal to risk a counter attack every now and then.”
