Inter president Erick Thohir attended an end of the season event with Inter Club Indonesia where Christian Chivu was also present. Thohir responded to questions from the fans about Inter and the coming season, here are a few things that emerged, for the full story visit inter.it.
Thohir once again stressed that any player who wants to play for Inter needs to wear the shirt with pride. This could be a reaction to the phrases after the last two games from Samir Handanovic and Stevan Jovetic. While a lot of fans are disgruntled with the coach, Thohir says there is full confidence in Mancini.
“Anyone who plays for Inter must wear the shirt with pride. The objective for next season is to keep improving. We believe in Roberto Mancini – he has our full support to get the best out of the team.”
And what kind of team will it be then?
“Any way comparing to last season, we finished this one with 67 points. It is a good place to start, the team has an average age of 26 years and the key players are young. Next year we need to do much better. You have read about new players in the papers, but I cannot announce new players until they have signed. I think we are missing some personality. We need to insert players in the squad that have good leadership. But we already have important elements like Perisic, Kondogbia and Icardi and we need to protect them. We will strengthen the squad, we want 2 or 3 players that can help us reach our goals.”
