Many of us don’t understand why Santon didn’t get more playing time (this ‘mystery’ applied to Telles as well).
He’s not great (great potential when he’s was young) but the same can be said to his competitors in the squad.
Well, IMHO he better move on since Mancio wouldn’t play him.
Perhaps playing in mid-tier teams would allow him regular play time and maybe he could rediscover his form and confidence. He did not deserved to warm up the bench like this.
I never understood how a prodigal wonder boy like Santon (hey, he was the boy who stopped CR7 Ronaldo when Santon was just 17 under Mou) stopped developing and became very mediocre. What could have stunted his development as a footballer? Or has he always been mediocre to begin with and that the rest of the world just simply overhyped him?

He was given chances after chances.
He even made it to return to the club that first orbit him, trust him and his potential. Yet he failed again.
I was admired by his talent, but that time is finally over. Time to move on. Full back is our biggest loophole next season.
i still cant understand how and why Santon and Montoya were signed… i think a random hobo off the streets could tell in advance that both of them are rubbish, yet our “coach”, sporting director, scouting staff etc agreed to get them
santon was signed for very cheap price but, looks like they knew something, everyone always gets the upper hand on us on the transfers

he wasnt injured the whole time though. and Naga and D’ambrosio were straight trash for a huge part of the season.
