Ever Banega held his first press conference as an Inter player at Appiano Gentile. Piero Ausilo started the presser saying “We’re delighted to unveil a player that we really wanted and that chose Inter.”
“I chose Inter because this is a massive club. Any player would want to play here” the summer signing said.
He moved on to explain his decision to pick the number 19, “I chose No.19 because a close friend once told me it would bring me luck. It’s seen me right so far.”
“I’ve played all over so I don’t think there’s a specific position I see as mine. I’m happy anywhere” he then added “I like being at the heart of the action and I want to get on the ball as much as possible.”
He went on to then say that “I chatted to Gonzalo Higuain during the Copa America. Serie A is a great league – it’s fascinating.”
“The fact that Javier Zanetti is here was important. It was really useful to be able to speak to him.”
“Mauro Icardi? I’ll be aiming to create as many chances for him to score as I can, definitely.”
He concluded his unveiling admitting “I’d spoken to Inter at various points in the past, but the most important thing is that I’m here now.”

What did the reports say exactly? Do they have him favoring a move to Jube? Medel would be serviceable, but I don’t like how aggressive he is while pressing for the ball, often times leaving the back line uncovered, which is the exact opposite of what you need from a lone CDM.
Agreed….but who else can take this position?! Mighty Melo jajajaj :))))
Btw….reports said that gustavo may go to Juve or may stay with his club
Definitely not lol Medel and Melo have the same problem, but Gary is certainly the superior of the two. That’d be disappointing to lose Gustavo to Juve because of how strong their midfield already is. If he stayed at Wolfsburg, we have other options, right now it seems to be Lucas Leiva.
Will be interesting to see how he can combine with Joao Mario (if he arrives, seems very likely right now).
With Banega and Joao Mario Inters midfield gained about 500% technical ability… Which was sorely needed.
I wasn’t for Joao Mario under Mancini, but under De Boer he seems like a much better signing. Mancini would’ve used him the wrong way, as he did Brozovic, by making him the box to box CDM who runs up and down the pitch with no true purpose or defined role. Now with De Boer, I see him as being a good, maybe even great, compliment to Banega in the midfield because he actually makes himself available through movement. Although he isn’t the type to thread passes through the defense, he does make intelligent passes to help move the play along, which our midfield has had trouble with in recent years. I’m curious to see what is to become of the lone CDM because Kondogbia isn’t nearly good enough defensively to handle that role, and we all know what would happen if Melo or Medel are put there. Gustavo now seems the definite front runner as he can play as lone CDM more competently than the likes of Biglia or Diarra.
😀
WTF?!!! HAHAHAHAHA
