Icardi isn’t making runs. Candreva is making crosses and is playing well. No player can land every cross. Icardi missed a penalty and didn’t follow on Perišić’s pass for a goal. Icardi is having an atrocious performance. Candreva is playing A-okay.

We have played a really fine 1.half- and been in total control! But Icardi needs to served in his feet otherwise he´s too isolated especially against a monster like Bruno Alves…. and if we turn up the tempo a bit we´ll crush Cagliari!
Lol, all you people who complain about crossing, let me tell you something. When your main striker is a player like Icardi, a technically limited but very good poaching player then that’s the way you play, you cross from the side and look for the center forward, especially in a crowded defense like Cagliari’s. If we had a player like lets say Jovetić (the one all of you seem to hate) who can get out of the box and combine with his midfield then we can talk about dribbling, cutting in and other things. So please stop talking trash about Candreva, one of our best players today and start criticizing Icardi who is so far, completely useless.
this is not about the players, it’s about our strategy.. we need more variation, not just aiming to send the final ball to icardi.. de boer need to change his tactics in 2nd half..
Icardi is the target man, as long as he is in the team our plan of the game will be to find him.

I’d like to see more of Icardi playing the ball for his teammates like when he assisted Banega against Roma. Once when he starts doing those things consistently then our attack will be much more flexible overall.
And Joao Mario and Perišić are trying long shots all the time. It’s just that there is no space, Cagliari defense is loaded.
