Inter coach Frank De Boer analysed the defeat against Atalanta to SKY:
“The only thing we can do is to continue to work hard in order to get out of this difficult situation. We will start playing better when the confidence comes back. I’m very disappointed with the first half and told the players during halftime that I wanted to see a brave and courageous team in the second half. As a matter of fact, that’s exactly what we did, a noticeable improvement in the second half and after 1-1 there was only one team on the pitch. We had good opportunities to win the game then an individual error lost us the game. I repeat: I’m really disappointed with the first half.”
Rumours say that you will be fired, have you been in contact with Suning Group? “No, the club is always represented at Appiano. Thohir and Suning aren’t here but we are always in contact with the President. It’s a difficult moment for everybody, especially for me. The only thing I can do is to work harder and talk to the players in order to get us out of this situation. I feel I have the club’s confidence, the only thing I need is a win that can change everything. I want to see a fearless team, playing with confidence. Today I saw one team in the first half and another team in the second half. ”
After the first half’s poor performance, was there ever any chance of seeing a change like against Bologna, with Kondogbia? “No, it’s always difficult to control the game- Atalanta is a really good team that knows how to play. Disappointing first half with a shattered team. We even failed in our press game. In the second half we changed this attitude. There were still some problems but we controlled the game.”
Why put Perisic to the right when he usually is not that good in that position? “We know that Ivan prefers the right side, but it’s the same for Eder. And since Perisic is good with both feet I made the choice of putting him there instead of Eder. Candreva has been a bit tired after all the games and we had to make a decision. This is not the problem.”
Will you still be on the bench comes Wednesday? “I don’t know. The only thing I can do is analyse this game and find a solution to how we avoid a team like the first half.”

It’s all down to poor higher management. I think if FDB had actually had time before the season started we wouldn’t have had these poor and disjointed performances. The Mercato was a mess too, we have no real backup for Miranda and Murillo. This Icardi biography is a joke too, surely it should have been proof read by inter before being published and causing friction between fans and arguably our best and most promising talent. Whole situation at Inter is making us a laughing stock, utter shambles. Bought Gabigol which I thought was an incredible buy and now refuse to play him. Guaranteed we’ll sack FDB hire someone else who will limp us to a mid to top half of table finish. He’ll then get sacked and we’ll sell promising youth players whilst keeping poor 1st team liabilities. Next season will then be another iteration of our poor previous years, no CL and talent will leave, the cycle of decline will continue. Change needs to start at the top and the way they think.
I don’t mean to disrespect other teams, if all teams are really good every time we face an opponent, then we are a bad team now! I admire FDB attacking tactics but for he proved he cannot work under pressure, I think he need to make players thinks he believe in them also, and he should stop the discipline circus at the club and start using the better players, one more thing keep putting pressure on the team coach or key players might drag us places we didn’t imagine Inter would go to, so fans need to show their true love for the club no more than ever, because I doubt no coach would come to us now for any amount of money we give.
You know, in my opinion biggest problems starts when he began to be afraid for his job and abandoned his ideas looking for fast results! He let the pressure mostly from the press and journalists working for Juventus, Milan and Roma influence his choices! It’s obvious the biased journalists who asked his head after first few bad results, which is ridiculous, because he was coach from few weeks at that time!
We should not choose FDB at the first place. Not because he is not a good coach, his tactics does not fit in Serie a, at least for now. He won’t have enough time to leave his mark. In Serie A, the first thing you need to survive is to know how to defend!
There’s no such a thing like his tactics doesn’t fit Serie A! This is some kind of Italian urban legend, football is the same everywhere and every good coach can adjust his ideas to the players at his disposal and opponent! Do you think that mediocre Italian coaches like Pioli, Guidolin, Mandorlini are better choices now? What we achieved with well knowing Serie A coaches like Ranieri, Gasperini, Mazzari, Mancini?
Of course different leagues have different styles, and difficulties. Everybody knows Serie A has more focus on defense, tactics. I don’t think mediocre Italian coaches will fit Inter better, but we certainly need to find some guy who has a strong personality, that can handle the team, and unite the team. Besides, our team is not strong enough to play “Total Footable”, the Netherland style. We should play more conservative, counter attack. Remember when we were 1st in the first half of last season? Why do you think is that? Besides luck, our defense was fantastic, but then….
DFB saw two teams today, no wonder he has crossed eyes!
I concur with you the Inter management shouldn’t have severed ties with Mancini. In as much as Mancini equally has his own problems. HE should have been doing better with the team at this stage of competition. The management should have retained him until the end of 2017 when Diego Simeone would make his way to Inter as our coach.
Take or leave it, FDB is technically tactically bancroft. Imagine, a man who has been with the team for 3 months, yet he’s been unable to make a headway. Inter should fire FDB forthwith and a replacement brought at once. If this FDB is allo to remain in Inter as the coach, it will not augur well for the team. It will be suicidal if Inter is relegated to serie B, so FDB must be fired for the interest of the team. PERIOD.
We need Mancini back and give him Yaya
no shit.
This is what inter has become i guess
All this mess that we have become must be a lot more than one persons fault
I dont think another coach will fix our problems it seems to be a lot more than that
Managment is all to blame
Agree….on how they spent a lot of time and money for player that wont play anyway, in a position that we have abundant of decent talents, on how they dont meticulously inspect Icardi’s silly biography, on inability to logically set the wage structure, on failure to offload proven crapp players, hhh…Forza Inter!
As much as i hate to admit ,why dont they take a look at rube and learn one or two things about building a team ,about managment
For how long is this going to go on
Every year they say time time time
Well they had all the time in the world and now we are back on year 0
I am aware are only need caretaker since Simeone is coming next season. So I was believe that sticking with mancio for a season and replacing him with Simeone is best decision we could have taken. No need to sacking him and replacing him with another incompetent coach. This mess is caused by plastic fans who wants to sack a coach 2 weeks before season start and clueless management who listen to them. Now I really hope Chuchu have coaching license and take care of this team until next season.
That’s bullshits! Mancini’s was proposed a new contract, but he refused. Because he wanted all power in the club like english type manager. Which is not possible and not good for the club. He was upset that management refused many times transfers like Yaya Toure, Zabaleta, etc. and force the club to sack him two weeks before start of the season! And for those who think that with him will be much different, I will remind them Tottenham friendly!
Remind us we lose againts Israeli teams at HOME
I have said that he is no better than gasperini.. I hate to always right
I blame our management more for this mess instead of De boer. Now that our confidence is lost , soon a string of bad results will too and then a sack. But that is not the end but our “smart management” will hire another Gamble 2.0 and task him with getting CL.
more like “Year Minus Ten”
Might be time to look at Laurent Blanc and Pellegrini. I wanted to give time to FDB but it’s like every week it’s getting worse and he clearly has no clue how to improve
Pellegrini is coaching in China.
We can tempt him to leave for 6m/year wage…as he refused Milan in pre-season for not offering him 5m contract.
Laurent Blanc won with PSG where even I could have won Ligue 1….
True. But I dont see any other coaches available and he also won ligue with Bordeaux which was not easy
Not that easy. Ask Unai Emery. PSG squad is full of expensive stars with gigantic ‘me’ star syndromes. Just similar to Inter. Blanc was able to handle that kind of team successfully for several years. If Blanc was in Inter’s bench, he would suspend Icardi for his pathetic acts until the end of the season, just like he did with Serge Aurier. IMHO, Blanc will do well with Inter. He is an ex-inter player, speaks Italian and knows the Italian culture very well. There is no better candidate.
What you expect when youre not giving coach enough pre season.
Better hope for some miracle because confidence wont be found after 3 losses in a row..If another loss is given after Torino game, it wont be good for you FDB..
I think that if he loses against Torino it’s game over for Frank.
i think its game over already for him
I Believe he will make it to Wednesdays game. I don’t know how you can instill confidence in a team with the way they’ve been playing lately.
I will be surprised if we can beat torino. Because the players don’t look determined to win at times
Miha, who in the past really wanted to manage Inter, will makes us suffer. Torino is in good form right now. Draw will be very good for Inter, but too bad even a draw is hard to achieve
