Ever Banega will start tonights important game between Argentina and Colombia and will play in front of Mascherano and Biglia. Banega as a starter in Sunday’s clash against AC Milan is however anything but certain. Tuttosport explains why: “When he has played well Inter has benefitted enormously. The problem is that besides those performances he hasn’t convinced. De Boer tried him in three different positions: playmaker, left midfielder and even in front of the defense. Only one shot at playing the Argentinian as a regista, against Palermo (1-1) in a poorly performed match.”
So, for new coach Stefano Pioli Ever Banega is a tough puzzle to solve. “Pioli hasn’t decided yet what kind of formation he will use against Milan, but it should be either 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 where Banega faces competition from Marcelo Brozovic who has stepped up the last couple of weeks after being in the freezer due to disciplinary reasons. Joao Mario and Gary Medel will start which means that Banega and Brozovic will fight for the last position. In the event of a 4-3-3 formation there is a slight advantage for the Croation, if Pioli instead decides upon a 4-2-3-1 it depends on how the Inter coach will approach the Milan midfield. And in January we might see the arrival of Biglia, what is the destiny of Banega?”

Just read what Pirlo said about when Ancelotti made him play deeper as a regista;
“How did Carlo Ancelotti convince me to play deeper? When I played forward my style of play wasn’t to score goals, but to help the team play football.
“I wasn’t selfish and only thinking about scoring, I preferred to help my teammates do it. For me the key thing was to get the ball and be at the centre of the play.”
Does that remind you of someone? Banega truly! He never looks for goal when he gets the ball but always trues to set up his teammates and to help the team play! That´s why I´d like him to play as our Pirlo!
4-3-3 Brosovic. 4-2-3-1Banega. 4-4-2 Gabigol.
3´5´2 Gabigol AND Banega!
shit….just realized our squad would fit the 3-5-2 system perfectly
Handa
Medel – Miranda – Murillo
Candreva- Brozovic -J Mario -Banega -One of the 4 crappy fullbacks we have
Icardi – Perisic
Well instead of one our useless left backs I’d play Perisic as a wing back and Gabi/Eder and Icardi on top!
I am not sure if he would fit that role, also he is banging goals in so i would rather keep him closer to the goal.
I would have eder and gabigol as subs to icardi and perisic
Agree Persic is very good at getting into scoring positions… Still see him more as a winger than a striker. He’s also strong defensively
his best attribute is his passing ability so if i potitioned myself as inter coach i would like to use him as a regista..
Them Fifa Playstation addicts come here and be like “This inter is suitable for 433, 442….because Candreva or Icardi bla bla bla” But when match analysis are uploaded here, 6 people read the article and 1 person drops a comment.
this will get me some hate but in my opinion the midfield trio for the derby should be : J. Mario – Medel – Brozovic.
banega will come back on Friday, there isn’t enough time for pioli to integrate him into his system, also it seems to me banega has some fatigue issues, when he plays constantly his performances drop a little.
i say keep him on the bench against milan and bring him on when we need him in the second half.
Makes perfect sense bro. Better than dem niggas who be like “Jojo should play as a leftback” and get lots of love here.
Guess Medel will return at the same time?
medel can play everyday of the week, he doesn’t get tired
and also Medel position as DMF and destroyer no need to get a lot instruction from the coach. but banega as a build up play he need more time to gel with pioli tactic.
u are right, but sub in banega at half for brozo, even though brozo will make an epic scene
To get the best out him play him as LCM in a 4-3-3. J. Mario (DMC) and Brozo (RCM). This system is working good why change it. Brozo cant be benched, he is hitting top form.
Tutto sport write the most rubbish. Banega hasn’t convinced. Bullshit paper
I still think we should work hard to make Banega into a regista. He struggle when the opponent put a marker on him Atatlanta and Samp did, or when he can’t fine the space between the limits because the opponents closes it down, like against Southampton.
He’s a luxury player who had all the freedom in the world to do whatever he wanted when playing in Spain and for Argentina. But when playing in Italy everyone needs to work their asses off otherwise you won’t manage to create anything against teams that all know how to close the opponent down.
As a regista he’ll get more time on the ball to do what he’s does best; pass the ball!
Let’s play him behind Medel/Broso and J.Mario
banega needs freedom to move, he ia our best dribller of the ball. leaving him in a regista position limits his ability to move forward and cause real damage. I read some comparisons to Pirlo, but he is no Pirlo.
To dribble around in circles does not do you much good – true he’s good at holding up the ball, winning us free kicks but otherwise I much more enjoy Persics or Candrevas dribbleling; they clearly know where to go with the ball, even Eder does not just run around him self with the ball, but go straight at goal!
Banegas passing on the other hand and vision is superb!
Antonio, eder and ivan all dribble to get to the opponents’ goal, they are attackers; that’s their goal. banega dribbles to create space to pass the ball to the aforementioned attackers; that’s his job. I understand that dribbling at high speed passed defenders is more enjoyable to watch, but just because ever doesn’t do the aforementioned does not make his dribbles any less important.
Not it doesn´t it simply just slow your team play down – just like Kovacic used to do! Yesterday we saw an Inter play much better and at a higher speed because Benage WASN’T playing
sell medel, buy biglia, bench brozo.
Have you seen Broso play lately? He has been superb
Superb!
