simeone

Surprising words, of course, from Diego Simeone yesterday: “One day I will coach Inter, everybody knows that.” Thereby confirming the words from his son who earlier stated: “My father will coach Inter sooner or later.” Then, hell broke loose.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Simeone in Inter already in June isn’t that far fetched. Not simply because the Argentinian shortened his conctract with Atletico from 2020 to 2018. The executives of Atletico Madrid agreed with Simeone to continue for a year and a half becuase in 2017-2018 the new stadium will be inaugarated and the president Enrique Cerezo wants Simeone to accompany the team in its new home. This is why he accepted the new paycheck of 10 million euro per season making Simeone the highest paid coach in La Liga. Even higher than Zidane and Enrique. However, there are two ways for Simeone to break that contract: 1) If the argentinian national team opens up a spot for him and 2) If another team pays 50 million euro for his signature.

Meanwhile, Inter hopes that Pioli can revive the team and that he can stay to the end of his contract (2018) but should Inter go further south or fail to climb in the standings another intervention could be possible. In this case Inter will try to get Simeone or Bielsa.
