The release clause is irrelevant, it doesnt mean they wouldnt sell him for less, which they obviously would. The clause is only there to cover if by some miracle Brozovic turns into a world class player, which isnt very likely.
Other than that, yes, it wouldnt make much sense to extend his contract if he was going to be sold.
The release clause is to release him from his contract with Inter. If any team wants him, whatever bid they put in would have an additional €50m on top. Brozo isn’t going anywhere.

Seems like a load of c””p! Broso has just signed a new contract yesterday and won’t leave in January. Banega arrived this summer and yes, he has disappointed and showed he’s not suited for the tactical very hard league like Italy. He all ways takes 4-5 touches before passing the ball and struggle every time the opponent man-mark him. But to sell him in January is a bit exaggerated! Okay if we get a fine offer for him we could get in Biglia and maybe this Rincon whom I really like, but I don’t see it as realistic!
