After a hard, but well deserved win at Mapei Stadium, Inter coach Stefano Pioli had the following to say to SKY: “It was too long ago since Inter won an away game and this  almost became a ghost for us. We wanted continuity and we got it. This is the second game in a row that we didn’t concede a goal, I saw many good things, now we will get stronger.”

From where came the balance today, Melo and Brozovic? “Of course the characteristics of the players give us balance, but even more important is the organisation and how we read the game. Our opponents were strong. During our weekly work we always try to improve.”

Even Icardi got his hands dirty today. “I think he did a great job today working for the team. We have to try to reach him with deep passes and to support him better, but today we took a lot of shots for being away from home. I think 21 shots and he had some chances.”

What happens with Jovetic? “The club has already spoken in this matter, I make the choices that are best for the team.”

Will you act on January’s transfer market? “We will, it’s impossible not to. We are realistic, there are too many players right now and we have to think about the Fifa Fair Play rules. But we will try to do something in order to improve the roster.”

As an ex-Sassuolo, what do you think right now? “Here at Sassuolo I did a good job, in an environment that lets you do that. And I can only pay respect to the work they have done, and are doing, here. I think they have a good programme with good ideas that creates good soccer. Maybe the Europa League commitment was too much, but hey have also been very unfortunate. It is never easy to prepare for all the games, every component has to work.”
