Former Inter coach Roberto Mancini was interviewed by La Stampa on a wide variety subjects starting with his immediate future.
“I can still wait before returning back to work, even if it’s very tiring to do nothing after many years of working. I’ve received many offers from China but I prefer an job in other leagues like the Premier League. The situation created at Inter this summer was absurd, difficult handle because too many people spoke all the time, it wasn’t just a problem of lack of patience on my part. The problem wasn’t the new ownership , the Chinese oweners behaved perfectly towards me. The team was set up well and my Inter was ready to return to winning ways, but the I didn’t get the proper belief from everyone and it was unthinkable that we would be ready from August 20. Quite quickly I realized that something was broken, even though I hoped that the situation could be fixed.”
Mancini was asked to comment on De Boer’s statement blaming his predecessor for the squads poor physical form: “He was wrong to argue that the team didn’t run, it’s not true. In any case, I understand De Boer, being at Inter during these months had to be difficult, he needed time, and in this situatuin it’s normal to look for excuses.”
Roberto Mancini was then asked about the teams great run of form of late and the upcoming match against Juventus underlining that “everything can happen in big matches, both teams start the match on equal terms and Inter hasn’t won these last matches due to chance. Their stadium is a factor that gifts the Bianconeri 7-8 points each year. Look at West Ham, they changed their stadium, going from Upton Park to the Olympic stadium and lost their home advantage. I noticed the effect a few days ago when I went to see tha match against Manchester City. With regard to Juventus, Dybala is a great player and a huge source of regret for Inter, I asked for him and we could have signed him.”
In conclusion Mancini was asked about the possibility of becoming Juventus’ coach in the future to which he replied “often my friends who support Juventus have asked me about this. I would say yes, because I’m a professional.”

Mancini is a failure, if he saw broken inter in the summer, instead of staying to fix things, why did he decide to leave ? Goes to show you he is failure wherever he goes and only lucky to be saved by big players in important matches
The biggest absurd at that time was you! With unsatisfying play and results, failing miserably in the second part of the season. But despite that insisting to have more power as english type manager and pressing for absurd transfers like Yaya Toure, Zabaleta, etc. In the end, after disappointing pre season, like a coward request from the management impossible terms for new contract and force them to sack you, right at the start of the season!!!
Every bitch would say yes to money 🙂
Strange that he admits that the team wouldn’t be ready for the 20th of August but denies it was a physical issue like De Boer said… I mean he had all summer to bring the players in to top physical shape (yes I know many players were gone because of the Euro´s and the Coppa America but still). The first thing Pioli did when taking over was to let the players take double training seasons and increased the workload A LOT, so maybe De Boer had a point (why he didn’t fixed it is another thing though!).
Mancini seems to be applying for a job at West Ham with his statement here above, like he would also become the Juve coach if asked and he “loves the city of Paris” too – I know he is out of work but still seems very desperate to get into the saddle right?
Correct, I am sure that he has regrets. As much as he is deflecting partial responsibility for the clubs early poor run of form, any potential employer knows that it just isn’t true. He was part to blame.
He is not a bad coach but I wonder if he is lost the ability to roll up his sleeves and show commitment. Diva???
Very good point actually and the thing about him “rolling up his sleeves” and lead the team is something he maybe, never has been good at!
Everywhere he has been, he has brought in trusted, old friends on the pitch and off it -Stankovic, Yaya and Melo (he wanted Yaya but got him). These players were the leaders on and off the pitch – not really the pretty looking manager, Mancini and when he realized he needed to lead the group himself – because Melo wasn’t any Yaya, he simply gave up…
Pioli is the leader the group has needed on and off the pitch for years! His interviews shine through with leadership and enthusiasm! He wanted Gagliardini, not a proven leader, because he, HIMSELF, is the leader and is ready to lead!
Well written. That is a very insightful statement about Mancio’s leadership.
Let’s beat Juve this weekend.
Thanks mate! Yeah, let’s beat them! We stand a chance if Perisic tracks back and help Nagatomo out in defense and Candreva ditto helps D’Ambrosio out, and if Kondogbia and Gagliardini keeps playing close to each other and close down the lines! But it’ll be super tough!
