La Gazzetta dello Sport confirms the news from Marca yesterday that Inter is preparing an offer for the Portugeuese defender. “In the last couple of hours Inter has received an ok from the player, who has an expiring contract. Inter has offered a two-year contract worth 4 millions per season + bonuses. But, before accepting Inter’s deal, the 34-year old awaits Real Madrid’s next move, which probably will not come. The strategy from Inter is clear, find 2-3 leaders that can take charge of the roster, players that know what it means to win, willing to do what it takes. In addition to Pepe Inter is currently following Daniele de Rossi, expected to renew with Roma.

This is what Mancini wanted and Pioli also mentioned (when the team faces trouble on the pitch it turns into a small team) – we lack leaders both in management (and now we´re getting them in one by one) and on the field plus in the locker room! And De Rossi surely fits that bill – as a leader on and off the field, so does Pepe and even Gustavo from Wolfsburg could be the man.

Look – I know he has done his fair of shit on the pitch and has a lot of tricks up his sleawes BUT we all loved Materrazzi right? Because he always gae his all on the pitch, loved the shirt and was a LEADER in defense before Samuel/Lucio arrived. And HE was a wild beast too – but a wild beast every team needs, to shake things up and to show everyone that “we have to get our shit togheter and WIN”. Currently have NO ONE who does that on the pitch.
