According to Sky Sports, Manchester United will most likely not offer a contract renewal to former Inter, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Red Devils will not trigger the option to extend his contract for another season and that means that the Sweden international will become a free agent next June 30.

He can’t play together with Icardi and I’d rather rely on young upcoming superstar than old one fading away no matter how good he is.
Why can’t he play with Icardi?? He played with Crespo at Inter and Adriano so a now more mobile Icardi would not be difficult to play with!
Zlatan likes to hold the ball and be part of the build-up play. I don’t also see a problem with him playing with Icardi. But I don’t believe Inter will go for him, although never say never.

Those players could play wide and around the box. Icardi is a target man and nothing else. It would also require Inter to switch formations that would render key players like Perišić useless unless you think that Icardi or Zlatan can play as wingers.
Crespo never played wide, neither did Cruz or trezeguet at Rube. Zlatan is a complete forward, can be both supporting and in the striker role.
But you are right that it would require a change in formation.
Either way, no one knows when he will be over his injury and what kind of shape he will in when back considering his age. So its not really anything we have to worry/think about.
3-5-2 maybe could work. But with wingers like Perisic and Candreva who help out defence even 4-4-2 could be used. But you can’t really build a team around Zlatan who comes to play for your team in november/december or whatever. Would be quite stupid, although he could help out our mentally fragile team that always collapses at some point after new year.
Neither Crespo nor Adriano were your typical wingers! Zlatan likes to be very much on the ball – like “Il Biscione” wrote above, which Icardi isn’t that found of. Ibra also drops deap and gets the ball almost like a playmaker – things Icardi has improved but which really isn’t his strongest assets.
Icardi on top with a “dropping” Zlatan next to him with an attacking midfielder (James) behind them to create play like Stankovic did once and with two box to box player(Gagliardini/Mario+Nainggolan) and a defensive destroyer(Krychowiak) in midfield could work, if we get quality wing backs that likes to push forward (Dalbert+Zappacosta/Fabinho) ..
But still; don’t think Suning wants to invest in a 36 year old man, who has stated many times that his favorite team in Italy is Milan…

We should get him. He can still score at least 15 goals per season and he can be a role model for Icardi and other strikers to be matured. ZLATAN’s character is what we needed the most!

I think it is an exception for someone like Zlatan. People might gone rage if we pay expensive wages for any young stars at the current market. But I don’t think it’s the same for him.
He is a proven super talent. Also among a few rare players who is able to keep up their form longer into the old age (like Totti, Zanetti, Maldini, etc).

What are we going to do about Icardi? This club does not play 2 forwards for whatever reason (just look at Eder deployed at LW). Having Zlatan will stifle Icardi’s growth, and benching Zlatan will cause dressing room woes.
Man Utd don’t want to renew his contract because of his last injury. Moreover, Zlatan will be 36 by the time he plays again, most likely in 2018. So what’s the point of hiring him but we can’t play him until the last quarter of season? I would love to see Zlatan with Inter shirt again but his massive +10 million euros wage is so scary that could force Wanda to start bitching around with the management once again.
Agree with you – our team screams out for leader all over the pitch and Zlatan surely is a leader! BUT he´s injured and won’t be ready to play until – November I think…. But still, I´d take him for free any day of the week! Plus with only Serie A games to play he´d get enough rest to recover his “old” body too …
Just want to remind you that Achilles injury even could bring a tractor like Zanetti down to his knees. Zelatan will NEVER be the same. And we also have Icardi, and many great wingers. Not enough competitions for two high profile strikers I’m afraid.
