Luciano Spalletti has spoken his first words as the new coach of Inter. The club confirmed on Friday that the former Roma boss would become the new head of the Nerazzurri on a two-year deal.

“I am very excited to join this great family that is Inter,” Spalletti began.

“The support and sentiment of millions of fans could be seen as a burden, but instead we must interpret it as a challenge; a new energy to take on the field.

“There is a lot of work [to be done], in a serious and professional way, even for the current situation that is the team. We have to improve. We must reconcile the results with the history of our club.

“We have seen that there are equipped teams. I have made account of the enthusiasm of the owners who want to quickly establish the project. We started working: today I will meet the directors, then continue to build the team for next season.

“The presentation? We will make all our members aware of what will be the way we work, we want to do everything in a clear and transparent manner.”
