I would love to have Gagliardini and Matuidi in the midfield with Kondogbia as a rotation. Then Borja or Mario in front of them would be good.

The way I see it, both of them are almost typical player (and I rated mario is way much better because he still has a lot of years ahead of him)
Valero is replacing Banega, not J. Mario.
I recon there will be some rotation, though J. Mario is versatile and can play all over the midfield, even as a semi-winger.
Valero doesnt fix the defensive issues in midfield though, infact he is terrible at defending, so the midfield will still have more holes than swiss cheese again next season.
Hopefully Kondogbia can be sold and a real defensive midfield brought in. Fagliardini is terrible at defending as well, but perhaps he can learn, though i doubt it, he is an incredibly mediocre player in every aspect and his IQ seems in the low end of the spectre.
Agree with everything except those thoughts on Gagliardini, he’s not the most talented player in the world, but he’s great tactically, an intelligent player. If we are planning to play 4-2-3-1 there’s no need for a pure CDM, just another box-to-box with great defensive abbilties, Matuidi would be perfect imo considering that Nainggolan seems unaffordable.
Bro Matuidi has an 8M net salary. Double that of Naing, so if Naing is unaffordable, I wonder how 30 year old Matuidi would be a better deal..
