Former Inter manager, Roberto Mancini gave his take on Inter’s record breaking start to the 2017/2018 Serie A campaign. The Italian manager, now at Zenit St. Petersburg in the Russian Premier League, believes Inter have made an improvement since he was in charge.

Mancini believes the Serie A has regained the competitiveness it has been lacking in recent years and views his old club, Lazio, as a surprise contender for the Scudetto race.

“It’s a great championship, very difficult, the level has risen from a few years ago. I think I’ll bet the five teams will fight to the end for the places that guarantee Champions League football. Lazio will be there and no one thought they would be but the Biancocelesti are doing great in the championship, I’m happy for Simone who was my teammate and my player, I love him and I hope they continue like this. Inter have been doing well so far this season but Inter is a team that has improved over the years. They can fight for the Scudetto.”
