Ahead of Inter’s match with Atalanta this Sunday night, Atalanta President, Antonio Percassi spoke to Gazzetta Dello Sport, reflecting upon last seasons abysmal 7-1 loss to Stefano Pioli’s Inter.
“I would like to avoid another 7-1, Inter is strong, perhaps even stronger than last year, but I trust the guys and the manager. This year I remember especially the debut in Europe, it was very emotional, and then matches that we had lost but we did not deserve the result. We played well as against Roma and Napoli.
“I would like to thank the team and the manager, Gian Piero Gasperini for this fantastic year. The team plays nice football, and he knows how to push the boys to perform at their best and to improve.”
Atalanta are in 10th position going in to the fixture with Inter this weekend and will be looking to secure their first win in three games following two draws and a defeat since their last win.

we don’t have an attacking midfielder anymore, so don’t worry
Yes , Banega was the key player who made all the difference in that game.
And..yes …we don’t seem to have a player with those particular qualities right now.
If one starts thinking why we spent 45 millions for JM after getting Banega …FOR FREE…
It’s honestly mind boggling.
But what’s done is done and now at least Suning put our mercato in experienced, capable hands.
mario’s s agent was the reason
Yes, same a..hole who made us buy gabigol
Last season is strange one, we beat them when theyre on perform while ours still up n down. But football logics never be calculated. We should keep our focus high n never underestimate them, then well see the scoreline after the whistle gone. Hope were back to win this game.
..and then we ended up behind them..
Football is strange and this is a very difficult, key game.
This is NOT an easy game and Atalanta are NOT the 10th team in Italy and they WILL most probably end up higher, like top 8.
They have had a lot of bad luck this current season ,even versus top teams, just as an example take the 1-0 loss with Roma, when they took a lot more shots than Roma and attacked a lot more than Roma , and they have also had lots of missing players ,plus they put a lot of their enthusiasm and energy into passing the Europa League group ,where they are on top of the group , they beat Everton 2-0 and are going for their best result in an international cup ever.
( they went to quarter-finals of Uefa Cup in the 80’s ,when they had the best Swedish player of the times ,Stromberg ).
Tough game, FORGET last season weird combination that brought to the 7-1 win.
On the good side thou:
They miss their best midfielder Freuler.
And probably even their best winger- full back Spinazzola.
( or ,even if he plays, he wont be at 100%)
Ok ,deal ,will win 1-0 ,as long as everybody is happy…
a 7-1 win for us would be nice
atalanta is a strong team now.. talking about this 7-1 won is worried me.. look at the table, they still in top 10 and do very well in europe. they have good players like papu gomez and christante. and don’t forget about about petagna, he’s not a prolific goal scorer, but he’s very good in holding the ball and open up the defence for the players behind him.. let’s just focus to win the game..
Uh, i think cristante and petagna is a bit overrated.. their most dangerous player are papu gomez and ilicic
petagna is not a great goal scorer but he’s good at opening the space for second line, which is dangerous for our defence. because players like gomez, cristante and ilicic are very good at coming from second line to score or creating havoc for us. i think the key in this game is our midfields..
Yeah, we shouldnt underestimate any.. even a nobody player can score against us
agree, we must not underestimate anyteam right now.. one mistake and we could end up at 5th or 6th place..
yap in Europe they are doing good aswell
