In an exclusive interview with Corriere dello Sport, Wanda Icardi spoke about husband Mauro Icardi, who she also represents.

“I believe in him and I know what he is capable of. With this Coach and with this group there is potential. Under conditions such as these, he’ll always surprise you and give you something more than normal.”

Wanda then discussed her being her husbands agent and interest in his services.

“I like it this way, everything stays at home. Also, Mauro makes it easy for me. When we are talking about renewals, he’ll score 4-5 goals in two games which helps in negotiations.

“Mauro is an important player and these are top clubs who have been following him for a long time. It’s right that a striker of his calibre, a top no. 9 in the world, has clubs like them interested in him but they must consider what he is worth.”

“I prefer not to say who I am speaking with. I’m dealing with them while Mauro only thinks of Inter and is very happy here. The executives at the club know he has refused clubs which other players would not, because he has the Nerazzurri colours in his heart. But I cannot deny that there are many teams interested in him, perhaps even more than you know of.”

“It’s difficult to say [if he could go elsewhere], as in football we never know what could happen. He has a contract, he only thinks about winning with Inter, he is happy and very focused on what he is doing but we no one can predict the future. The last word belongs to Inter, depending on if they get an offer that they cannot refuse.”

Wanda then discussed his €110 million release clause and put an evaluation on him.

“I asked for the release clause because I felt it was right for a player of his quality to have a high price tag. I do not know if the club wants to adjust this and consequently the rest of our agreement. The clause should not scare anyone: even if it is triggered, the final decision remains with the player. He is worth at least 200 million.”

The 30-year-old was unwilling to disclose whether or not contract talks were underway with Nerazzurri management in the next segment of the interview.

“It’s a question you have to ask the club, management have to decide what they want to do. He is a player of Inter, the captain, and wants to stay with the team. We have not asked for anything but if the club intends to change the contract, it is their choice.”

Wanda concluded the interview discussing Mauro’s feelings about captaincy.

“It is an honour for him, but Inter were in his heart long before he started wearing it, he has felt a love for this shirt since he was young. In him, Inter will always have an extra fan.”
