Speaking to Sky Sport, Sampdoria’s Sporting Director, Carlo Osti, talked about the players they could sell in the upcoming market, “Our next capital gain? Torreira and Praet have the highest market value”.

Luciano Spalletti reportedly asked for Lucas Torreira is the January transfer window. We can’t be sure of the reasons for Inter not signing the Uruguayan but it’s a safe bet to assume that Sampdoria would not sell their star player mid season, with the aim of qualifying for Europe. Although, there is a €25 million release clause, Inter simply did not have the money to trigger it and could only work on a loan basis.

If Inter were to qualify for the Champions League, the club would be able to use the extra money towards buying more quality players, like Torriera, who no doubt would probably also like the prospect of playing in the tournament.

Perhaps former teammate, Milan Skriniar, can help persuade the midfielder into joining Inter over other interested top clubs.
