Luciano Spalletti’s task of picking a line up has been made far easier in recent weeks, as the team have found a positive balance in the last four games, without conceding a goal.

The key to this has been the new midfield trio of a Gagliardini-Brozovic pivot, with Rafinha (“He wants Inter” said Spalletti)  in the more attacking role. They’re now ahead of Borja Valero and Matias Vecino who had strong starts but have failed to maintain that level. Candreva-Icardi-Perisic up front remain unchangeable. Finally, helping Handanovic will be Cancelo (“You can see he’s happy now” claimed Spalletti), Skriniar, Miranda and D’Ambrosio.

In other news, Andrea Ranocchia has returned to the squad list from his minor injury, which must be said, offers reassurance should either centre-back need to come off.

Gazzetta dello Sport probable line up for the Milan Derby (4-2-3-1): Handanovic, Cancelo, Skriniar, Miranda, D’Amborsio, Gagliardini, Brozovic, Candreva, Rafinha, Perisic; Icardi.
