Inter target Simone Verdi is set to join Napoli after the Azzurri had an offer of €25 million accepted by Bologna, according to Sky Sport.

Verdi came close to moving to Naples during the January transfer window when the two clubs reached an agreement for a similar fee, but ultimately he decided to remain at Bologna until the end of the season.

However Napoli have revived their interest in the 25 year-old six months on and this time they are confident of persuading the player to accept their offer, following the departure of head coach Maurizio Sarri and the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti.

According to Sky Sport, Bologna have informed Verdi that if he does not wish to move to the Partenopei the only other option will be to remain with the Rossoblu for another season, with no other clubs willing to satisfy their requests.

Inter are said to have offered an initial loan worth €8 million along with an option to buy for €14 million, but they have not made any further move since last week and are now virtually out of the race.

Verdi scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists for Bologna during the 2017-18 season and has made three appearances for the Italian national team, making his debut during their friendly against the Netherlands in March 2017.
