An operation that was born and killed within a very short space of time. Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Milan Badelj was offered to Inter, but the Nerazzurri rejected the idea.

The ex-Fiorentina man became a free agent on July 1st, but until now, he was playing at the World Cup, so he’s only started looking for a new club now. Badelj is widely considered to be a deep-lying playmaker (similar to Marcelo Brozovic) and would have been a good squad player. For reasons still unknown, though, Inter were not interested, leaving the Croatian with interest from Zenit and Milan.

However, Inter are still interested in signing a midfielder and Nicolo Barella is considered a great prospect. Additionally, Cagliari are open to selling the player on loan with an option to buy, which is still the only way Piero Ausilio can operate until next July (at least).

It is for this reason, that despite the large price tag that placed on him last season, that he should not be ignored as a potential target.
