After having secured Croatian international full-back Sime Vrsaljko from Atletico Madrid, the Nerazzurri are one step away from securing the services of Bayern Munich’s Chilean international midfielder Arturo Vidal, Gazzetta dello Sport report.

According to the report, there is not a lot remaining for the deal to be concluded as the German giants have accepted Inter’s offer of a loan with an option to buy. What remains to be seen is how much Inter will put up in cash for the loan as well as how much the option to buy clause will be but the Gazzetta report that the deal will cost between €18-20 million in total, far lower than the €30 million Bayern initially asked for him.

Before the deal can be made, Vidal must sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich tying him to the club until June 2020 as opposed to the current deal which runs out in June 2019. This is because Bayern want to be sure not to lose the player on a free transfer next summer. Inter on the other hand wont be able to sign him permanently nor will they be able to sign him on a loan with a forced option to buy as UEFA consider this formula to be no different to a permanent transfer. Therefore, Inter will loan him with the option to buy, thus respecting UEFA’s Financial Fair Play Rules, the Gazzetta reports.

Furthermore, the Gazzetta report that Vidal will sign a 3 year contract with the Nerazzurri where he will earn €4,5 million per season net, which is less than he currently earns At Bayern. This was something that was already agreed a few weeks ago when Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich met with Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio in Frankfurt.

The fact that Bayern are open to this formula also means that Inter don’t have to sell a player before acquiring Vidal, something that has taken Inter by surprise who are taking a moment to find the best way to conclude the deal in a manner that is most advantageous to the club.
