Suning is the first Chinese company to bring a football club into the Champions League. Steven Zhang, in particular, is very excited to face the likes of Barcelona and Tottenham as he sees these games as opportunities rather than nightmares.

Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport is convinced the Steven Zhang will be the next president of the Nerazzurri: “The possibility of seeing Zhang Jindong in the stands during Inter’s first Champions League game against Tottenham will not be excluded, but there is no doubt that the face of the club is that of his son, Steven. Current Inter president, Erick Thohir, will arrive in October for a meeting to elect a new president. The natural and most likely candidate is Zhang Jr. who is the former director of Suning’s international development.

“This change in presidency can happen regardless of whether or not Erick Thohir sells his shares (he still owns 31% of the Nerazzurri.) Suning is aiming to buy those shares from him, but at the moment the negotiations do not seem to be close to a conclusion” the Gazzetta concludes.

Steven lives in Milan and works closely with Javier Zanetti. His future seems to be set at Inter.
