Romario, Ronaldo and Van Nistelrooy. The Philips Stadium in Eindhoven has been the arena for great strikers during many years and tonight it is up to Mauro Icardi to revive those glory days, confirming Inter’s growth in an effort to repeat the win against Tottenham.

Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports in today’s paper edition of the paper that: “Inter’s Argentinian bomber Mauro Icardi got off the bus after arriving to Philips Stadium wearing a big smile and autographing jerseys for fans and also seemed very relaxed while he walked the pitch together with his phone and teammates Nainggolan and Lautaro Martinez, another Argentinian striker that Maurito is helping to grow in his new environment. But tonight there will be only one place for the two, and that place is Icardi’s, there is no doubt about that.”

The paper continued to report on the negotiations with Inter concerning a renewal of his contract stating that “In the meanwhile, Inter’s first proposal for Icardi’s contract renewal failed. Inter offered the striker around €6 million, and the club does not want to challenge the restrictions imposed by UEFA regarding Financial Fair Play rules. Icardi wants a bit more, up to €8 million and at the moment there is still a lot of time to resolve things since Icardi’s current contract expires 2021, one of the reasons for this is that no offer to buy him out for €110 million arrived. Of course everything can change, but an agreement remains as the most probable solution although talks have to evolve.”
