After the final whistle at Stadio Paolo Mazza in Ferrara, Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic stopped by RAI Sport to share his thoughts on the win.

The former Udinese man began by explaining why Inter weren’t able to play better stating that: “Today we were tired and therefore lacked the energy to play a good game. If Keita would have scored the goal for 2-0, we would have seen a different game. The team did not play well, but this was more of a character victory, it was an important win.”

How important is it to have an attacker like Icardi?

“The team is the most important thing, he scores the goals and the majority of them. But there are others too, that plays behind him, but he is the one who finishes.

Where do these moments of distraction in the defense come from?

“We are all responsible, we have to understand when to push up and press and when to not do so. Today we wanted to counter attack every time and the conditions today did not support that. Everybody got tired and the defense had to suffer due to that fact.”

What are your opinions on where the team struggles?

“Today, everywhere and this is a mental thing. We were tired and did not choose to make the best decisions at times. Sometimes we have ups and sometimes we have downs, but we are still in the beginning of the season and things will improve.”

How important are the victories in the Champions League?

“Very important, everything counts. When you win, the right atmosphere is created by itself. There have been two great games that have filled us with confidence.”
