Once again, Inter defender Milan Skriniar is crystal clear about his future but Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport explains how things are starting to get a bit complicated on the renewal front.

“The ex-Sampdoria player has not yet renewed his contract with Inter, something that just weeks before the season started seemed like a formality but is now distant from a solution. Today Skriniar earns €1.7 million, a salary that is scheduled to rise slowly until 2022 when the contract expires.

“Inter has for obvious reasons always believed in the capabilities of the Slovak and that is why Ausilio, as soon as Inter qualified for the UCL, offered a 50% raise, landing Skriniar on a €2.5 million salary until 2023. Everything pointed to a done deal, but Skriniar (represented by his agent Karol Csonto) declined to sign the offer wanting €3 million per season. After that negotiations between the two parties have cooled down as have the contacts.”
