Milan legend Paolo Maldini has admitted former Inter striker Ronaldo is among the top three hardest players he came up against during his 24-year playing career.

“Maradona was the best player with whom I measured myself against. Then there was Michel Platini who was very strong, then there was also Inter’s Ronaldo. He was super-fast, technical and he knew how to score goals,” Maldini said on the stage at the Festival of Sport in Trento.

Maldini, who now serves as a director for his beloved Rossoneri, spoke on the upcoming Milan derby that will take place next Sunday and paid particular attention to the ongoing debate as to who is better, Inter’s Mauro Icardi or Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain.

“If you ask me, I say Higuain is better. I say this because he is a champion who has raised the level of the team with his goals, performances and for how he deals with training.”

The ex-Italian international centre back also spoke on the difference between the two clubs at the moment ahead of next weekend’s Milan derby.

“At this moment there is a distance between us and them, hopefully there is none at the end of the season though.”
