The fate of the Meazza stadium could be up for a change, with both Inter and Milan working closely and having a dialogue after the past few years of not so great relations.

This according to Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport who reports that just hours from the highly anticipated derby: “the change of ownership of AC Milan and the arrival of a new management has in fact changed the scenario that was created with Mr Yonghong Li. Now with the Elliott fund at the helm, we are talking about a joint management of the stadium, which at the moment is the best scenario for both clubs.”

The Gazzetta reports further that new developments could come soon stating that: “during the coming weeks, consultation with the city of Milan could start for a commercial concession of 99 years that would not mean complete ownership of the stadium, but something similar to that.”

The Milano mayor’s administration agrees with this solution and now it is up to the two clubs who according to the Gazzetta: “Today, San Siro is rented by both clubs and in July an ordinary and an extraordinary maintenance work plan worth €15 million was approved, due be completed by 2020. This included a renewal of the grandstands and the grandstands of the first level, a new museum lounge and new commercial spaces, the construction of a fourth Executive room in the first level together with new media areas, all of them important work while awaiting a joint solution.”
