Inter’s medical staff have examined Matias Vecino yesterday after the Uruguayan midfielder damaged his right thigh during an international friendly against Japan.

Milano based Gazzetta dello Sport reports that “The club is confident that if Vecino needs to be kept out, it’ll only be as a precautionary decision, which unfortunately comes at the time of the Derby della Madonnina.”

For Spalletti, Roberto Gagliardini is ready to go, if he makes the decision to rest Vecino. This might be a blessing in disguise for all parties, considering Gagliardini, for unknown reasons has been lacking opportunities since his first start in 0-3 win against Bologna.

Furthermore, Vecino will need to be ready for the first leg of Inter’s Champions League double encounter against Barcelona, followed by a trip to Lazio, if need be.

Spalletti also now has the full squad back in training, following the return of Mauro Icardi, Lautaro Martinez and Joao Miranda from their mini Inter civil war, during a friendly between Argentina and Brazil in Saudi Arabia. This means, Spalletti will have three whole training sessions with the full team before Derby day.
