Inter captain Mauro Icardi was a guest on Italian TV channel RAI’s famous show “Domenica Sportiva” where he analyzed the derby match against city rivals AC Milan:

The Inter captain was asked about his goal to which he replied: “I just do my job, if I have to drag the team with me with my goals, I am happy to do that, but we are all leaders, both off and on the pitch. This victory is very important and we started this streak before the international break.”

Icardi then quickly turned to the upcoming match in the Champions League at the Camp Nou stating that: “Now we have to travel to Barcelona and continue showing our qualities as a team. We know that we are playing a great team, but we want to do well in that match. Messi being out is a shame, but in a way, it is also a lucky break.”

The Argentinian international was asked about Inter’s chances of challenging for the Serie A title to which he replied: “It is still way too early starting to talk about the Scudetto, we still have a lot of points to make up for. Inter has to continue to win and to show some continuity, something that we have been lacking during the last couple of years. We just have to bring home three points from every game.”

“The desire to win is always present, but it is still too early to talk about it. Right now, we are building a base and aiming for important objectives. Last year we were aiming for the Champions League spot, then when we have managed to build something we can start shooting for the stars. Tonight [yesterday] we managed to get the ball into their area, the cross from Vecino was beautiful, but looking at the game in general we created a lot of chances.”
