Inter coach Luciano Spalletti stopped by Inter TV to give his analysis of the win in the Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan in front of a sold out Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.

The Nerazzurri coach began by stating that: “I have never won a derby at the end of a match like this, but earlier in games if my team played like Inter played today [yesterday]. The win was deserved, a shame it had to come at the end. The team stuck to the game plan from the first minute, trying to win the game in the midfield against an opponent like Milan means a lot of risk taking. You just can not lose focus and have to be 100% concentrated. The team did exactly this, without losing to many balls, only a couple of balls were lost in a trivial way.”

Do you agree that this win means more than three points?

“No, I have said it before and now I will not say it again. We have to improve, we have to have continuity like Icardi has and we have to be up there with the rest of the best teams.”

Before the game people said that Inter is a physical team and Milan is the better playing one. What does Inter have to do in order to play well?

“People tend to describe things based on how they are involved emotionally. We moved the ball well, maybe we lost too many balls in Milan’s area.”

We saw a group that was very involved and on point today?

“It is fundamental to have a team with the highest quality. Every player has to accept the fact that they can be left out and then give it all in order to be ready for the next challenge. Starting with performing well during practices, Borja Valero is a perfect example of that.”

Politano suffered cramps, Perisic and Brozovic have some physical problems and regarding Radja Nainggolan we have to wait for the medical examination to be done?

“Politano should recover easily, the two Croatians have to be evaluated. Both of them asked to be brought off during the half-time interval, but Brozovic partially overcame his problems where as Ivan I had to take off at the end.”
