Luis Figo was interviewed by sport streaming service DAZN on a number of Inter related topics, firstly discussing his arrival at the club and then president Massimo Moratti.

“I came to the club from a difficult time in Madrid and I found a family. Going to Inter was a courageous choice but after the meeting I had with Moratti I was convinced and I was lucky enough to be in an important moment for the club. We were very strong and I was happy to have made this decision.

“Moratti was a father figure for me. I have a lot of affection for him and he is one of the most important people in my career and also on a persona level. I still have a very strong friendship with him and his family. I have a very positive relationship with him and had a wonderful experience under him. He was very important for me in my four years I had at Inter.”

The Portuguese then spoke on former teammate Javier Zanetti and former manager Roberto Mancini.

“Zanetti is a friend and was a great captain. I have a great relationship with him and it was great to play together.

“Mancini? I wish him the best, he now occupies an important position in Italian football and I hope the national team can find the right direction and get back to doing well.”

Figo, who made over 100 appearances for Inter, then spoke on his final game for the club which was also his final game as a footballer.

“It was great because there was nothing planned. The atmosphere and what happened was the best way to finish my career. I do not miss football and I think I left at the right time. I wanted to say retire the year before I but then Jose Mourinho arrived and I played another season because I wanted to work with him.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on today’s Inter.

“I hope the club is back on the right track. After winning so much and after the departure of Moratti there have been some difficult years but the return to the Champions League is important. It is not known how much the Chinese owners know and plan to invest in the team but I trust that they can return Inter to winning things and make all the deserving fans happy.”
