Former Inter defender Francesco Colonnese reflected upon Inter’s 4-1 defeat to Atalanta yesterday in Bergamo.

“For Inter it was the classic game to forget, a blackout that can happen. It was undoubtedly a performance below expectations, Atalanta was superior and there could be a setback. It is a defeat to be filed and forgotten, now it is necessary to start again and the international break can help them to find their compactness and serenity again. I just have to congratulate all of Atalanta’s team because they have played a great match,” Colonnese said in an interview with Direttagoal.it.

“If it is only a black out, Inter will come back to win from the next day, if they can not get a result in the next games probably there are some problems. However, at this time we must think positively, it is needless to make controversy or heavily criticise after a loss. This defeat must not cancel out the excellent work of Luciano Spalletti and the consecutive victories that have been brought home in recent months.”

Colonnese also spoke on Keita Balde and Lautaro Martinez and their lack of game time.

“Spalletti knows them best and sees them in training every day. They are working well and will have to take advantage of the opportunities the coach will give them. They are important players and they will be able to show this when called into action.”
