A jubilant Matteo Politano spoke with reports from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport following his goal in Italy’s 1-0 friendly victory over the USA last night.

“I am happy for the goal and victory, overall it was an unforgettable evening for me. It was liberating. We had created a lot of chances, so sooner or later one has to go in. We had three great chances, but their goalkeeper was on top form but the important thing is to keep playing like this and the goals will come.”

The Inter winger, who joined the club in the summer from Sassuolo, then spoke on the team’s strengths and main ambitions with EURO 2020 not too far away now.

“Our main strength is being a group and anyone new who joins us immediately feels at ease. We want to reach our full potential. We have a good mix of young people and people with experience.”
