There is to be a Milan derby for Sassuolo and recent Italy debutant Stefano Sensi according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

Milan thought they had beaten off the competition, but the uncertainty surrounding UEFA’s punishment for their debt, has severely slowed down their ability to sign players. This has lead to Inter joining the race.

Marotta has left Juventus and will soon be officially announced at Inter. The executive from Varese has not yet started in his new role, considering he only got back from his meeting in China, to define his agreement with the Zhang family, yesterday. This is important because Inter will need to deal with the specific needs of Sassuolo, while also thinking about their own financial fair play agreement.

Sassuolo manager De Zerbi wants to keep €20 million rated Sensi, but Milan and Gattuso desperately need reinforcements, so this could play into Inter’s hands. It is possible, that Inter offer Sassuolo the opportunity to keep the Italian until the end of the season on loan, before making the move permanent in the Summer transfer window. This is also in the best interest of Suning, who cannot reach into their pockets until July 1st, assuming the terms of the settlement agreement have been met.
