During post match interviews in the mixed zone at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Inter coach Luciano Spalletti talked about the numerous doubtful incidents that happened in the game.
“I hear voices of injustice. There are many episodes to be reviewed, but if you choose to talk about the challenge on Zaniolo, then we also have to talk about the challenge from Manolas on Icardi when Icardi is going for the goal. Before reaching the goalkeeper, Icardi is there to look for the finish, Manolas on the other hand is out of reach of the ball and goes straight in on Icardi. For me it is a clear situation, but no one talks about that, instead they choose to talk about other episodes from the game.
“Both teams were right in this game, in charge of their respective game plan. Both teams knew what they had to do and at the end they cancelled each other out. Then there could have been more goals scored, but I think all of us saw the true essence of football tonight.”
