Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport explains in the paper edition of the newspaper today the backstory behind Matias Vecino’s exclusion from tonight’s Champions League clash between Inter and PSV.

According to the report: “Inter coach Luciano Spalletti got the bad news of Matias Vecino’s injury this morning. Vecino, who underwent an examination already before the game against Juventus, is still suffering from his muscular problem and the Uruguayan has not been called up to the game against PSV tonight.”

This was an unexpected blow that has forced the Inter coach to have Radja Nainggolan on the bench tonight but the former Roma player is only an option for a limited number of minutes, but to be able to have Nainggolan as an option is important. Replacing Vecino in the lineup will be one of Keita, Martinez and Candreva.

Should the choice be the Senegalese or the Italian, Inter would go more towards a 4-4-2, should El Toro be the choice the formation would lean towards a 4-2-3-1. The option of a three-men defense, in a match that has to be won at all costs, exists, but is not that convincing.

Here is the Inter’s probable starting formation according to Corriere dello Sport:

Inter (4-4-2): Handanovic, D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Skriniar, Asamoah, Candreva, Brozovic, Borja Valero, Perisic, Icardi, Politano
