If Inter, after the final whistle of this year’s Champions League group stage, should qualify for the final 16, this would not only bring a smile to every Inter fan around the world.

This would also mean that the Inter budget would increase because, according to Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, qualification to the the knock-out stages would guarantee Inter an income of around €17 million, divided in €9.5 million for the qualification, €2.7 million for each win and finally ticket sales for the first leg, presumably against a “big” team that would mean around €4 million in revenues.

According to the report: “There is a reason why all the big clubs have as their primary seasonal goal, a qualification spot to the Champions League and that is that, with the new format, just by having qualified they can be considered as winners.”

“By doing a bit of accounting, Inter should get around €52- 55 million from the group stage including an estimate part of the market pool which will be distributed after the end of this season, then ticket sales revenues for the first three games of €13 million should be added and everything adds up to revenues leading to new investments leading to new revenues” the Gazzetta concludes.
