Gazzetta dello Sport have analysed Inter’s elimination from the Champions League yesterday.

“Inter made two major errors that led to the exit of the UCL. First of all they had the wrong approach to the game: chaotic mentally and imbalanced tactically. The second error came minutes after Icardi had equalised to 1-1, at which time Inter was qualified thanks to Barcelona leading against Tottenham. The narrow 1-0 lead of Barcelona should have made Inter fear the worst, yet the 1-1 goal from Icardi slowed Inter from going all-in.

“All of a sudden it seemed like Inter stopped believing in their own possibilities to change the outcome of the night. When the bad news of Tottenham’s equaliser finally came, there was nothing to do. Inter threw away their UCL adventure thanks to the performance of the last two rounds: the defeat at Wembley was considered almost acceptable, but the 1-1 result from yesterday created a false hope.”
