The arrival of Giuseppe Marotta and the future of Lucaino Spalletti are the main themes of La Repubblica’s piece on Inter today.

Beppe Marotta is not the messiah. Inter have many problems and he cannot fix them all in one day. But finally, the Nerazzurri have a manager with years of experience in running a successful team. An expert in the dressing room and behind the desk. Someone like him has been missing from Inter for decades.

Recently, Spalletti has had to face some very strong criticism. Some argue, that had Marotta already been officially announced, Spalletti might not still be here, given his multiple mistakes over the last month. After going 1-0 down against PSV, Spalletti failed to show the right attitude and Icardi’s equaliser was treated as the decisive goal, rather than going straight for a second. This is something Inter, the players and fans paid dearly for, as Tottenham earned a point away to Barcelona, sending the Nerazzurri into the Europa League. The subbing of Politano for Vrsaljko was a mystery, one that many people would love to know what was going through Spalletti’s head at the time, with so much pressure to win.

Maybe Beppe Marotta will be able to find a suitable upgrade should these lapses of judgement continue. Other media outlets have already highlighted certain names, such as, Antonio Conter and Diego Simeone. While Conte does not fit the image of Inter, Simeone has a past with the club as a player and will almost certainly be the preferred choice.
