Inter coach Luciano Spalletti commented on the 1-0 victory against Udinese in the Serie A at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district in an interview with Inter TV.

The former Roma tactician began by stating that: “The most important thing was to keep the balance. The most risky thing we could have done was to go and try to win the game in two minutes and in the first half, maybe we were a bit too easy to read. In general we had a good game, maybe we conceded too many shots, but Handanovic had everything covered in goal and played really well with his feet when our opponents put some pressure on us.”

A very important victory in order to get the points needed?

“In my opinion this is an important step, because we took it in a correct and accurate way. If we sum up these small steps, they all bring great results. When you come from a period like this, the tension increases and the risk of making easy mistakes does as well. In the first half I saw some passes that were hit very well.”

This was the 6th straight victory at home in the Serie A?

“Of course this is something very pleasant. From a point perspective we are not doing that bad.”

After the 1-0 goal, you were a bit in trouble?

“We as a team are stronger than them, but after we took the lead, Udinese found some sparks and made the runs for the final meters. When starting from the back, we lost too many balls that could have ended up being a chance in their area.”

A victory that gives you some breathing room?

“This is a clear victory, although close. A victory that we wanted and was right seen from how the players behaved. The exit form the Champions League is something that you want to shake off but it still remains in your head. The most important thing was to get the win, which we deserved.”

Icardi took a risk with his ‘Panenka’ chip?

“He is one of those players from whom you can expect everything. At that time, he saw that the goalkeeper already had revealed where he was going and Icardi looked for the easiest way to score.”
