After the final whistle of the Serie A match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district where Inter defeated Udinese 1-0, Nerazzurri Portuguese international midfielder Joao Mario stopped in the mixed zone to answer questions from the gathering press, as reported by FcInterNews.

A good first half, but maybe you lacked a bit of decisiveness in front of the goal? Something that you showed in the second half?

“It was important to react after the Champions League exit. We had a good match, creating a lot of opportunities. Maybe not from the start, but we always tried to play like that and the victory was well deserved.”

During the second half, you seemed to go more towards a midfield two and at the end you seemed tired? Is this a solution for the future or do you prefer the “mezzala” role?

“The games change, you can start in one way and then change. For me, what counts is to play, not in which role I play. Right now I am happy because I get to play a lot and for me that is the most important thing.”

You created a lot of chances, but lacked the final touch in order to bury the opportunities?

“What we wanted was to control the game. Unfortunately they were very closed and we did not find that much space to maneuver on. We created chances, but maybe we lacked some effectiveness.”

How can Inter get the other players beside Icardi to score?

“I do not know, he does so much but already this year other players have scored. It all depends on the matches, this one was difficult and he is the kind of player that always score. Also the guys in the midfield and on the wings wanted to score, but today it just was not possible.”
