In an interview with Radio Sportiva, former sporting director Pierpaolo Marino discussed many of the issues that Inter are facing this January, starting with the events that occurred against Napoli, when it sadly became clear that Nerazzurri fans were chanting racial slurs towards Koulibaly.

“As long as we judge racism on the basis of objective responsibility, fans will only continue to hold their clubs hostage. Inter’s punishment was far too harsh and a perfect example of how the current procedure for dealing with such events is flawed.”

Next, Marino discussed some of the promising young talent that Inter have been linked to: “Tonali? He’s a great talent but it’s too early to say where he’ll go. At the moment, Cellino is gathering all of the interested parties for a big Summer auction, including Inter.

“Barella? This is a very difficult financially and he could move this winter as Chelsea and Napoli compete to win his favour while Inter are limited until July 1st 2019.”

Finally, on the renewal of Mauro Icardi, Marino says: “Icardi is providing Inter with a lot of goals and as long as he does this, Wanda is entitled to ask for more money. If the club values the player at €100 million and above, he should be paid around €10 million to keep him happy and avoid temptation.”
